Another win for Patryk while Jake Dalton shines on day two.

With James’s car repaired and ready for race two it was changeable conditions at Croft. A small shower of rain and the team elected for a split strategy, sending James on slicks with Patryk and Jake on wets, however more rain on the way to the grid put pay to James doing well. Patryk was to make another good getaway and this time making no mistakes on his way to victory. Jake Dalton had a superb race, dropping the experienced Alex Walker and chasing Ed Jones and James Peace all the way to the line for a well deserved 5th place. The last race of the season was once again a strong one for Jake Dalton with another hard charging drive to 5th place. A better start from new Intersteps Champion Jake Dennis meant Patryk would have to slot into second which he maintained to the finish. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough for second in the championship, missing out by just five points. James was to have a race long battle with his nemesis Sarah Moore finishing just behind in 7th place.

Pole Position for Szczerbinski.

Patryk Szczerbinski followed on from his Brands Hatch domination to take all three pole positions for this weekend’s final race meeting of the Intersteps Championship at Croft. New signing Jake Dalton was an impressive 7th and improving all the time while regular driver James Nutbrown was close behind in 8th. With an outside possibility of overhauling Fortec Motorsport’s Alex Walker for second in the championship Patryk had to score well in all three races. Race one on Saturday afternoon produced and a great start to lead the field away with only Championship leader Jake Dennis able to keep up, but half way through the race Patryk was to make a mistake and run wide allowing Dennis through. Although he was to close the gap back down it would be second on this occasion. Further back Jake Dalton had a tough first race battling for 6th place which he held on to. James Nutbrown was forced out on lap one with a frightening barrel roll at the second corner. Both James and his car should be back out in action tomorrow!

Jake Dalton signs for Croft

KF3 star Jake Dalton will race with Falcon Motorsport for the last meeting of the Intersteps Championship at Croft this weekend. After a successful test at Pembrey last week, Jake will test alongside regular driver Patryk Szczerbinski at Donington on Thursday before joining the team for the last three rounds of the championship at Croft Circuit.
We are delighted to have a driver of Jake’s calibre join us at Falcon. With Ash Robinson having to miss the last few rounds, we have the perfect opportunity to get Jake up to speed in preparation for next year. Testing has gone well and I’m confident of a strong race weekend commented team Principal Nick Streatfield.

Patryk gets the hat-trick for Falcon

Race two on Bank Holiday Monday was back to a dry track and the two Falcon drivers lined up third and sixth on the grid for this one. From third Patryk made a clean getaway to retain his place behind Jones and Dennis. After briefly losing ground to the lead two in the early laps, he was back on their tails by the last lap. Going into Druids Jones braked too late and mounted the back of Dennis. Patryk seized the opportunity and sailed past to take his second win of the weekend. With Patryk on pole for the final race of the day, the hat-trick was on and he didn’t disappoint. A clean start from the front row slot and a blistering first lap to pull out over a second lead meant he was never going to be challenged. Over the remaining laps he increased the lead to a comfortable five second margin while the rest squabbled over second place. James had an uneventful race to sixth place, but it was Patryk’s day taking his fourth win in a row and the first Intersteps driver to win all three races of a meeting.

Szczerbinski and Nutbrown show their pace at a wet Brands Hatch.

After a dry qualifying where Patryk and James qualified fifth and sixth respectively, it was all change to wet set up for race one. James made a flying start and immediately demoted Patryk, while both of them managed to get past James Peace on lap one. For the next eight laps it would be a titanic Falcon Motorsport battle for fourth place which Patryk took on lap nine. Lap ten, he caught and passed Ed Jones in a spectacular manoeuvre round the outside at Paddock Hill bend. The next lap it was championship leader Jake Dennis that would be despatched by the ”Intersteps Rain master” at Graham Hill bend, and then on lap twelve a similar move on Alex Walker gave Patryk the lead. Meanwhile with Patryk out front, James had closed the gap to Ed Jones in fourth place, pushing him all the way to the finish. They crossed the line just four hundredths of a second apart in what has to be James Nutbrown’s best drive of the season. Up front Patryk in imperious fashion crossed the line over ten seconds in front to take his third win of the year.
